Overview

Collagen depletion is a major contributor to visible signs of ageing, including skin laxity, fine lines, wrinkles, and enlarged pores. Collagen is an essential structural protein found in the dermis that gives skin its strength, firmness, and elasticity.

From around age 25 to 30, collagen production naturally begins to decline, and early signs of ageing—such as fine lines and larger pores—start to appear. Environmental factors like sun exposure, pollution, and lifestyle habits can accelerate this process.

By age 40, the body’s ability to produce collagen has significantly reduced, leading to a noticeable loss of skin volume and elasticity. This weakening of the skin’s support structure results in sagging and deeper wrinkles caused by gravity and ongoing facial movement.

In recent years, weight loss medications such as Ozempic® and Mounjaro® have become increasingly popular for their ability to support safe and effective weight reduction. However, while dramatic weight loss can be transformative for health and wellbeing, many patients notice an unwanted side effect: skin laxity.

I had pretty much accepted that this was just a part of getting older and persuing a hobby that meant being outside in all weathers.
The consultation process was thorough and the pricing was reasonable.
The procedure was not painful - I only experienced just the very slightest of twinges. The side effects were minimal.
